Jumping Beanz sessions are led by Debbie May, a fully qualified teacher (B.Ed Hons) who has been working with children of all ages for nearly 30 years.
She is DBS checked, holds Public Liability Insurance and has First Aid qualifications.
Jumping Beanz was established in 2005 as a pre-school, parent and toddler activity group. It has since slowly transformed into 3 After School Clubs for children aged 4 to 8, currently based in Balfour Primary School, Brighton; Jumping Beanz, Runner Beanz and Crafty Beanz.
Jumping Beanz and Runner Beanz are physical, creative, thematic and educational programmes of fun activities for children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2. Whilst Crafty Beanz is full of craft based activities, focusing on creativity and imagination and is offered to those in Years 1, 2, 3 & 4.
Debbie also offers 1:1 Online Tutoring Sessions to children in KS1 and KS2. For more details please look at the 1:1 Online Tutoring Bean on the website and/or contact me with any questions or to book a session.
All Beanz sessions run throughout the term, if the school is open then the session will be on!
Due to the current situation, the children must remain in their Year Group Bubbles throughout the school day and during all After School Club activities. Therefore, we have had to restrict the year groups that can attend the clubs, as below. We sincerely apologise to those who can no longer attend their choice of club and especially the Reception children and their parents who we are unable to accommodate at the moment. Hopefully, in the future, we may be able to offer more sessions or have more Year groups attend each.
We want to reassure you all that we have carried out a thorough Risk Assessment which has been agreed by the school. This will mean that the activities may be a little different from those the children have previously experienced. Similarly we will aim to keep the children physically distanced where possible. Use of the toilets, handwashing, first aid and collection/pick up have also been considered and we can give you further details as required..
Of course the safety and wellbeing of you, your child and staff is of the utmost importance, but we shall also make sure we really enjoy ourselves too! The activities may be slightly different to previous years, but we have plenty of equipment and ideas for new ones! And we're sure the children will enjoy them as much as they have done before!
The children are collected from their classrooms at the end of the school day and escorted to the hall/room for the session. Payments are required half termly or termly. You will be required to sign a Data Protection statement so that we can legally hold your and your child’s details. Do contact us if you have any questions or would like to book a place for your child!
FROM SEPTEMBER 2021
Due to the announcement that 'bubbles' are no longer required in school, all of my clubs will, once again, be open to all the Key Stage 1 children (Reception, Year1 and Year2)
The sessions are all created to be age and ability appropriate and have the same familiar structure that the children know, but are all slightly different so that a child can attend more than once a week if you would like. (This is back to how the sessions were structured before Covid). Briefly, the difference between the sessions is that Runner Beanz has a sport skill focus each week (eg basketball dribbling, overarm throw, aiming etc), Full Of Beanz has more group activities and games (space invaders, shark game, jailbreak etc) & some sports skills and Jumping Beanz has themed based activities (Jungle, Superheroes etc)
